Description of horses to an alien

comic_alienA horse  is a thing that can breathe, move and do lots more.

Well this is what it looks like. Horses are all sorts of colours.  Horses are from 7 hands (70cm) to 18 hands (1.8m) high.  Horses have been on the earth for a long time.  Well the horses head has pointee up ears, two eyes and a muzzle which has the nose and the mouth on it.  The horses neck is a medium size with a mane going down it (which is like hair).  Its body is a large strong thing in the middle of the horse with a 4 legs off the underside.

Horses do lots of things.  These are the strides – stop, walk, trot, canter and gallop.  They can also carry carts which can have in them hay, people and other things that need to be carried.  They can do races like jumping and dressage.

Horses eat lots of things (basically everything).  Its main food is hay, grass and oats and everything else is treats.

Good description, Grace. It would be fun to get someone to draw a ‘horse’ from your description.
One thought, do horses eat meat?
Which group od animals do horses belong to – omnivore, carnivore, herbivore, insectivore?
    So do horse eat everything?
    But a great description

This is a great description, Grace! I enjoyed reading about your different categories (what horses look like, what they eat and how they move). My cousin had a horse when we were little. Her horse’s name was Whisper and she had a foal whose name was Secret. I do miss my horse-riding days.

I particularly love the description of “it’s body is a large strong thing” … You’ve explained it exactly as we see it – and from my riding days, my legs struggled to get around the barrel of “thing” too.

    Great writing sweetheart. x

I love your description of a horse. You’ve put feeling into it, such as in the description of the horse’s body. That’s exactly what it is.

    It’s great writing.
